Rising Above Haters
How I Proved the Haters Wrong
One thing that you will learn very early on in your network marketing journey is that haters will be one of your largest business challenges, perhaps the biggest challenge.
I had always had my fair share of haters, but when I entered the business, I was surprised to learn how much hate I really had to deal with. Everything from people telling me I was in a "pyramid scheme" to unfriending me on social media because they rejected the business opportunity of a lifetime. In the beginning, this can be hard to take because it's unthinkable that anyone would not be interesting in the opportunity, even criticize the opportunity!
As we all know, network marketing is so wonderful that it is beyond criticism. All criticism is hate and when there is hate, you cannot empower women. If you're not uplifting women at all times, then you are tearing them down. This is the ultimate goal of every hater. They are driven by hate, spite and Satan and actively try to prevent women from becoming obscenely rich through network marketing. This is discrimination at the highest level.
It is essential to rise above the haters, not only because it makes us feel better, but it's actually good for business. As written in my best selling book Go Empower Yourself, your business cannot succeed without positive vibes and haters are the ultimate positive vibe killer! I have a whole chapter on haters, which I recommend you read if you want to take this business seriously.
So here are my top tips for overcoming the haters, which you can implement in your own business.
1. Be Successful
Babes, nothing silences a hater more than success, especially those who questioned and doubted your journey. So the ultimate way to overcome this, is to prove them all wrong and show off your success with pride.
Of course, sometimes it can take a few months before you are able to achieve financial freedom, but it is always easy to pretend you are living a life of abundance on social media. Some things you can do in the meantime include:
- Renting out fancy houses for a few hours. You can even do this together with your team to save money. Make as much content as possible to create the illusion you live there.
- Go to luxury car dealerships and take photos of you leaning on the bonnet.
- Buy the cheapest designer item in a store and ask for the most packaging possible so you can show off your spending spree.
- Max out your credit card and pretend your business paid for the expense.
By flaunting your expensive lifestyle, your haters will be searing with so much rage and jealousy, they'll explode!
2. Be Passive Aggressive
Ever told someone that you'll pray for them? That's passive aggression, baby! Think about it for a second, when was the last time you truly prayed for someone who criticized you? When you truly wished them the best?
I thought so.
Passive aggression is one of the best tools to overcome the haters. It is perhaps the best way you can approach a confrontation, but with positivity, compassion and a place of love for money. Instead of throwing punches, you are throwing prayers and false well wishes. This gives you the moral high ground in every situation and with enough practice, you will be able to deflect all negativity.
Some fool proof passive aggressive statements you can use in your messages or posts include:
- I'll pray for you.
- Some people don't want to see me success, but...
- Have a wonderful blessed day.
3. Act Like You Don't Care
Perhaps the most mature way to put haters in their place is to really emphasize how unbothered you are. Nothing shows the haters like an unbothered babe. You could use passive aggressiveness to express this, or you could make posts explicitly about haters and how much you don't care about what they think. I personally enjoy making post with a smug smile, arms crossed and will post a caption along the lines of:
"I used to be just like you. I used to let haters get in the way of my dreams of achieving financial freedom. They made my doubt myself, made me think I was being unrealistic, but then I learned that nothing is unrealistic! Network marketing gave me the confidence to show them all that I have what it takes to succeed! Now I don't care what my critics have to say. Now I don't even think about my haters at all, ever!"
No-one can touch you after a convincing post like that!
4. Own The Haters With Facts and Logic
I cover this extensively in my best selling book Go Empower Yourself. Often a hater will bring up laughable "arguments" about why network marketing is a "scam," but thankfully you can rebuttal every single point. I recommend that you read my book for further information, but here is the counter to the most common argument:
"Sounds like a pyramid scheme"
Babes, this is so easy to debunk you will never fear the word "pyramid" again. There are three simple answers to this. First you respond with "It's not a pyramid scheme! Those are illegal!" Boom! Got 'em!
Now be careful, because sometimes they respond with "Just because it's illegal, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Murder is illegal, but murder still happens!" Now I know this is a personal attack because she just called you a literal murderer, but don't worry. You just need to hit her with this: "Actually huni, we're not a pyramid scheme because we sell top-quality products! By definition (this part makes you sound smart!) a pyramid scheme does not sell any product."
Now usually at this point you've OWNED the hater and they'll want to join your team, but on a rare occasion they might, with one dying gasp, come out with: "Actually, a business can still be classed as a pyramid scheme, even if it has product, if the majority of the money comes from recruitment and/or insider buying."
Okay, so you now go in for the kill with this absolute slam dunk:
"Actually, every business is a pyramid scheme! Think about your typical corporate job! You've got your employees at the bottom who make up the majority of the company. You've got the supervisors who make more money than the employees. You've got the managers who earn more than the supervisors. And at the very top of the pyramid you have the CEO who earns ALL the money! Oh, and it is actually impossible to be promoted past your boss or become the CEO for some reason. YOUR job is a pyramid scheme! Thank goodness I am my own boss and CEO and am on my way to achieving financial freedom!"
Mic drop.
5. Recruit Them Into The Opportunity
Here's a little secret about your biggest haters: they're your biggest fans. Think about it. They follow you, watch your every move and wonder how the heck you managed to achieve all your success! They're obsessed! Some of the most obsessive will even inadvertently promote your business by bitching about it online. They do this for free!
Babes, this is a business opportunity!
It's a special skill to tame the beast, but remember you have the upper hand here. Since your biggest haters are secret fans, they will never block you. They thrive off your content. So there will be no negative repercussions if you reach out to them. Contrary to what you would think, your haters will actually be thrilled to hear from you. What fan doesn't want to receive special attention from the person they admire the most? So reach out!
What's important is that you're intentional and approach your hater with love because love always conquers hate! Tell your hater that you love them, that God loves them and you want to show your love by inviting them into the business opportunity! Tell them that you think of them often and how excited you are to hear from them. Also thank your hater for their support, for promoting your business and empowering you. Show gratitude to them by passing on the opportunity to empower them in return. Be persistent. Pray on it. Visualize it. Eventually your hater will manifest into your latest tribe member. All it takes is a little patience and a whole lot of love and positivity.
